Write about the sunset... without mentioning colour
There will be times where you want to describe a common occurrence in an unusual way. If I asked you to describe the sunset, probably the first thing you would do would be to mention all of the colours. But what if the colour was temporarily removed form your list of tools. What would you do?
The sounds of sunset come now, the blaring of car horns ceases, the streets clear of the rat-a-tat footsteps of an army of office workers going home, and prepare for the drunken swaying of party-goers. All around, on electric wires and window ledges, on fences and in trees, the setting sun silences the twittering of the birds. As day turns to night, the white light of the blazing day changes to the black excitement of the night. (Mr. Crouch)
The sunset, gleaming in the distance, slowly . Glowing rays beamed towards the earth as it turned away from the recognition of the sun. The light was filled with a friendly warmth. As the su fell deeper into the dark shadow of the mountains around us the light illuminated the pale snow into a calming hue. The further the sun crept downwards the more the blazing lights penetrated our hearts. And as the sun’s final fire left the earth, I felt love for the beauty that life can hold. (N)

Thin wispy clouds lined the sky. Their backs were illuminated by the glowing sun, sinking under the horizon. The river flowed steadily beneath the sky. The sun’s reflection was sketched onto the river’s surface, only broken by the outline of a boat passing by. Dark silhouettes of branches rose up towards the fiery sky, as the sun sunk closer to their grasp. The sidewalk was lined with bystanders, silently admiring the sun’s beauty. The silence was only broken but the faint breeze stirring the soft leaves. Finally the last glimpse of the sun gently sunk under the horizon. All that was left were wispy clouds, still glowing from their encounter with the sun. The sky slowly faded into night and the bystanders walked home with the promise that tomorrow the sun would rise again. (C)
The scene was magnificent. The hot nearly perfect sphere of helium nuclei, electrons and hydrogen, the sustainer of life on earth was not being modest about its splendour that day. The light came, was refracted by the atmosphere and clouds, hit my eye and I beheld the many colours which I deemed “beautiful”. The sea reflected these photons and some more, letting my brain process the mesmerizing information given by them to me. The clouds complemented the scene and I fancied that the sky was depicting the scene of a battle, taking place in the blood red sky. The sun gradually descended, robbing the world of its splendour, descended like a fallen warrior, just as noble after its death. The moon reflected the light from the sun. (N)
The Sunset,
Filling the streets and lands with a last glimpse of light, before the night begins its time. Warming our hearts and souls with feelings of joy. Saving our minds from the dim thoughts at the hours of darkness. Letting us have a sense of a good life.
It makes me forget about my misery. (T)
