Writing Challenge - Can you do it?
In this exercise, we are going to see how it feels to be made to choose every word carefully!
Write about a winter scene using words that do not contain the letter 'a'
It is white from horizon to horizon, as I turn from left to right. Three-sixty degrees. Which direction should I turn to, to get on course once more? I have been lost for two weeks, just me and my trusted dogs. The snuggle up to me to get out of the cold, trusting me to get us out of trouble, to the pole, then the trip home, to glory.
White upon white now, misty views, fog. The repetition confusing me, the dogs, our confusion, vortex-like, sucking us over the edge of thought. I stop now for the tenth time in an hour, the icy tendrils of life slipping from me, like vermin jumping ship, looking for better times, whilst all hope deserts me.
Colder now, we end our journey into utter nothingness. If you find this writing, let it serve to remind you of the folly of people, lost in pride, hollow, dying for renown, who thought to conquer the South Pole. (Mr. Crouch)
